As an outcome of the conference Ny Norsk Arkitekturpolitikk we continued working with the Ministry of Culture and Church Affairs on a publication promoting the steps the norwegian government are willing to take to improve the architectural field and it´s politics.

The process started with struggling to figure out what part of the governments designprogram we had to follow. We ended up having freedom to choose everything except the typefaces. The Norwegian Government currently uses Myriad and Century Old Style for all their printed matter. As this was supposed to be an extension from Ny Norsk Arkitekturpolitikk which identity was based on it´s use of typography, this was not an ideal solution.

We worked around the problem and started from scratch only hinting to the aforementioned identity. We built a flexible grid allowing both photos, texts and infoboxes come through and be treated with respect. The catalogue is divided in three parts. Part one is the introduction describing what architecture is and what lies behind the decision to publish such a publication etc. This was printed on recycled stock in one color to distinguish it from the rest of the publication. The second part was the actual measures the government was willing to act to. The third part was a glossy section showing some of the best architecture norway has to offer.

We wanted the binding to be available rather than hiding it under the cover, in order to emphasize the construction of the catalogue hinting towards the built environment.
